From the Principal:
Wonderful national winning news as we have been named a Magnet School of Excellence by the Magnet Schools of America. Congratulations to our faculty and staff for making us shine again and again.
One of our seventh grade students, Alessandra Rosales, won first place in an essay contest on 'Water Matters'. She received her prize at Tree Tops Park this weekend. Her parents and teacher, Mrs. Fumosa, joined her to accept her award. Congratulations, Alessandra. You make us proud.
We're almost through with our state assessments. Everyone proctoring and administering the tests did well and are happy it's over. We will receive the results of the writing in May. The math and reading results will be sent in June.
We are still working with our 6th and 7th grade students who are in need of recovering a failed core class. Ms. McMahon, our Recovery Coordinator, will contact you soon if your child is in need of recovery. This summer we will offer a three week recovery session at Forest Glen Middle. We are also offering our promoted 8th grade students who have struggled this year an opportunity to go to a three-week summer session to prepare them better for high school. Those invited to attend will be notified through our guidance department.
Thank you for your support of our programs and fundraisers. We are lucky to have the wonderful PTA and families who volunteer to do whatever it takes to make us successful.
